Dads Camp is the biggest weekend of the year!
In early October, we pack up and drive south to Sunset Beach SB, one of the most beautiful oceanside campgrounds in California.
The campsite is located just south of Manresa State Beach and a few miles from Watsonville. We camp on a big sandy bluff above the beach.
Here's how it usually goes:
We roll in on Friday evening and set up camp. For dinner, we provide delicious catered Mexican food. It's local and fresh, and available for everyone... TACOS!!!
No need to worry about dinner on Friday night. We've got you covered!
After dinner, the campfires and tunes and beers and laughs begin. And sometimes Ben even breaks out the Calvados! 👀
On Saturday, we wake up to sunshine and the most epic beach day ever. We build a tent city on the sand and then surf and bodyboard and body surf and throw frisbee and play soccer and just frolic in the sand and waves. All. Day. Long.
Late afternoon we return to camp... and prepare for the FEAST!
By 8pm, there is meat and wine and veggies and meat and beer and sides and meat and dank-ass desserts and random fondue from a Belgian dude and more meat and cigars and digestifs... and late night meat... and Armagnac... and later-night meat... and another beer... and everyone-else-is-in-bed-at-2am-and-you-and-4-other-dads-are-around-the-campfire-with-the-munchies meat.
And also a raging fire.
And kids with "carbonized" marshmallows.
And chunks of smores stuck on really dirty hands being inserted into really smiling mouths.
And an outdoor projector movie for the kids.
And just a really fun night.
And then Sunday we all wake up and try to figure out what the hell just happened... and then we head back to the beach!
We usually reheat leftovers and grill more meat at the beach picnic area for lunch. Then we pile into our cars and head north — usually arriving home by 7pm.
Another EPIC weekend in the books!
